How to Get Licensed

The Pueblo County Building Division is now accepting Contractor’s License Registration Applications for 2026!


The Pueblo County Building Division currently enforces the 2021 Building Codes.

Contractor Licenses Requiring an ICC Exam

The following contractor licenses require a passing score on an ICC (International Code Council) examination:

  • License A (Commercial): Unlimited commercial building.
  • License B (Small Commercial/Residential): Limited commercial and residential building.
  • License C (Residential): Strictly residential building.
  • Roofing
  • Mechanical A (Unlimited): Requires a passing ICC exam and a current EPA certification card.

Trade Registrations (Electrical and Plumbing)

Electrical and Plumbing professionals must submit the following with their registration packet (found on our website):

  • A copy of their State Master License.
  • A copy of their State Registration.

Experience-Based Licenses

The requirements for all other contractor licenses—including siding, stucco, excavating, and utility work—are based on verifiable work experience.
